The upcoming exhibitions at 12×16 Gallery in Sellwood is about a Solo- and a Group Show of Printmaker from Portland and around the Globe.
November 2.-26.2017 with Artist Reception November 5. from 2-4pm
I hope, visitors will enjoy images printed with etching, stone-lithography, woodcut/lino-cut, moku hanga, and monotypes from over 10 Artists of Printmaking.
“Facial Expression included”
In my new prints I want to express moments, and want to challenge the viewers, if they can find the appearance of a face, but also look at something or even someone – with eyes, with a face, and don’t look away. Even looking twice to see the facial expression the image communicates, and connect with it, good or bad. Because faces and eyes are alive and always worth to look at, being the connection to our surroundings and to our world, and soul.
To work on lithography stones most of the time the image appears like a drawing, keeping lines and shading like pencil strokes. In that case the viewer can also look again to see the craftsmanship of stone lithography.
“Beate and her Friends in Printmaking”
I also curated the adjacent group show of printmakers from around the globe I got to know of, and befriend with for several years. The artists, I invited are printmaker, who helped me to treasure prints, and the printmaking process of stone-Lithography, etchings, and woodcut.
The group show of printmaker friends is with an open theme; I invited those artists and wanted to show with, because I very appreciate their work I was influenced by one way or another.
Exhibit will include works of Ellen Emerson, Eleanor H. Erskine, Susan Hurrell-Fields (NZ), Katherine McDowell, Mary Pacios, Nicole Rawlins, Richard Steiner (Japan), Graham Stephens (Chicago, IL.) and more
